My glorious sandals finally bit the dust. I've had them since I was 13. I feel a great sadness--they were like faithful friends over these significant 8 years. And what's more, I've been reduced to wearing the flip-flops I've had since I was eleven. (I admit they are about a half size too small.) They're fine for slipping on as you take out the garbage, but after a while, they chafe.
*Sigh* ... it's hard saying goodbye to old shoes ...

A moment of silence for the faithful sandal friends . . . I have a pair of boxer shorts with which I have a similar relationship. I got them in 1996, have worn them as pajamas for 11 years, and now they finally have an irreparable hole. I intend to wear them until they are no longer decent to walk to the dorm bathroom in.
Why say goodbye? You can just keep them with other things that are not functional, like my Bible Quizzing awards.
